Our team 'Rock Hard Runners' braved what was a very chilly Sunday morning for the annual Real Insurance 10km Sydney Harbour run.
None of us thought of checking the weather on our phones prior to the start time of 7:30am but it is reported that yesterday only reached a top of 13 degrees. A very cold day for a run indeed! Liz and Adrian who have never run that far in their lives smashed it with 63min and 59min consecutively. Roxanne and Maria who have run similar distances, but usually in intervals between obstacles both scored pb's with 63min and 73min respectively. Maria won the Gold Star Award. Being the kind hearted woman she is, at the 9km mark she noticed another runner in the midst of being violently ill. No one else stopped to assist this poor lady until Maria came by. Maria stayed with her until she regained her composure and was able to resume running again. The woman tried to convince Maria to continue on as her time would be effected. Maria explained that she had already succeeded in her goal of running the whole way. Well done to all. If you would like to run with a group of easy going people with various fitness levels stay tuned for City2Surf info as we intend on entering our team.
